Through the Handcrafted Soap & Cosmetic Guild (HSCG), I am an Advanced Soap Maker #18597. Having earned my advanced soap maker certification means that I previously took and passed the Basic Certification exams for both cold process (CP) / hot process (HP) and melt & pour (MP). I then had to take both exams for the advanced certification for CP/HP and MP. After passing those two exams I went through a process where I made five different soaps based on a set of guidelines I had to follow. I had to retrieve all of the safety data sheets (SDS) for each ingredient used, document my entire process, and I had to write a report for each soap I made. For the CP soap I made I had to mathematically calculate all of the ingredients used, in addition to determining how much H20 and lye was required. Pictured here is my CP soap I submitted for certification; I named it Simplicity. My HSCG certification means that an industry wide standard of excellence has been established in soap making. Through achieving these certifications, I have demonstrated a dedication to professional standards in soap making and the intent is to build credibility with customers, so you may feel confident in the safety and efficacy of the product you are purchasing from me.

  • I have a dual master’s degree in Dental Hygiene Education & Public Health. I have been in the field of dentistry since 1998. I have original research published in the Journal of Dental Education, 2/2024. I taught dental hygiene clinic to first and second year dental hygiene students, as well as Oral Pathology. Additionally, worked with the students at a school for children living with Autism to work on dental desensitization for the past 2.5 years.
  • I am an avid road cyclist, rower, stand up paddle boarder, I sail, wind surf, surf, kayak, and I am also a snowboarder. Additionally, I am a master gardener through the University of Connecticut.
